The set up for The Dead Man's World Title main event at WrestleMania XXIV started the previous May, when Edge cashed-in his Money In The Bank contract on an already beaten up Undertaker and took his title. Edge would get injured that summer but return at Survivor Series, costing 'Taker a title shot against Batista by disguising himself as a cameraman. The next month at Armageddon, The Rated R Superstar destroyed Taker with chair shots before beating Batista in the triple threat match to regain his title. This all set up the story for Undertaker's long-standing revenge and, with Edge backed by Vickie Guerrero and La Familia (Chavo Guerrero, Zack Ryder etc.) and thus able to avoid a proper beatdown, fans couldn't wait to see the two finally square off one on one at WrestleMania. With almost a years worth of on and off build, the two finally locked up in the Citrus Bowl in the main event in front of around 74,000 fans. The two had an expertly worked match that built and built until Undertaker was able to apply his newfangled Hell's Gate submission hold, putting the title back in his possession and extending his WrestleMania winning streak. The build had been great and, because the story had been ongoing for the best part of a year, fans were elated when the hero finally prevailed.
