10 Best Impact Wrestling World Champions Of All Time
10. Eddie Edwards
Throughout 2016, Eddie Edwards found himself a bit all over the place. He began the year as one half of the World Tag Team Champions then won the X Division Championship twice, before finding himself in the Grand Championship Tournament and ending the year as the World Champion. Talk about being busy!
His win over Bobby Lashley on the post-Bound For Glory episode of Impact really came out of nowhere. The Almighty One was the most dominant force in Impact at that stage, and had recently defeated EC3 to remain the champ at the aforementioned pay-per-view. He was allowed to choose his opponent for his next defence and picked Edwards, thinking he would be an easy man to defeat. Clearly, he was wrong.
The former American Wolf surprised everyone with his win. While his reign only lasted two months, it felt like something new for Impact. The few champions before him were all big names who were known all over the world. Edwards on the other hand, though not a nobody by any means, was not considered a big name alongside the likes of Drew Galloway (McIntyre) and Matt Hardy.
Thus, it felt like a breath of fresh air in Impact's main event scene.
