8. Randy Savage Vs. Ted DiBiase - Madison Square Garden - WWF 1988
Timing is everything. Just one month after having lost in the Wrestlemania IV World Championship tournament final to a Hulk Hogan-aided Randy Savage, the "Million Dollar Man" got his return chance for the gold at Madison Square Garden with neither Hogan nor DiBiase associate Andre the Giant in the building. DiBiase's character was so hot at this point that the idea that he could win the match certainly existed here. The fans respond accordingly too, and here's a perfect example of just how amazing WWF's promotional machine was at certain points of it's 80s dominant era. Ted DiBiase was a territorial legend from Mid-South, here wrestling a guy who dominated Memphis for a decade. Add the WWF's pomp and circumstance and you have two incredibly over main eventers headlining Madison Square Garden. Impressive.
