2. Sasha Banks Vs. Bayley (TakeOver: Brooklyn, 2015)

Bayley and Sasha Banks’ reputations as two of the finest female wrestlers on the planet was already established by this point, but TakeOver: Brooklyn really pushed them over the edge. This was the night they became bona fide superstars and standard-bearers for women’s wrestling across the globe.

It’s hard to think of a better women’s match in WWE history. Bayley and Sasha gave a near-flawless performance in Brooklyn, and while they didn’t headline the card, they produced a match that the night’s main eventers (Kevin Owens and Finn Balor) just couldn’t better.

This was the peak of Banks’ heel act. While Bayley had emerged with boundless joy and enthusiasm, Banks took her sweet time in getting to the ring, basking in her own sense of royalty and self-importance. The psychology was fantastic from the start, with Sasha not worried about Bayley, but Bayley very much worried about Sasha. The challenger stepped-up and tried to prove her newfound confidence to The Boss, but Sasha slapped her down at every juncture until the match’s end.

Banks started working on Bayley’s already-injured hand, and the match hit fever pitch. In the end, Bayley drilled Sasha with a stunning top rope Rana before finishing her off with the Bayley-to-Belly, and that was that. Her underdog story was complete, she was the NXT Women’s Champion, and she and Sasha had produced one of the greatest WWE matches of the past decade.
