10 Best Tag-Team Matches In WrestleMania History
10. Hulk Hogan & Mr. T Vs. Roddy Piper & Paul Orndorff ('Mania I)
More so than any other tag match featured on this list, the WrestleMania I main event is here because of historic value. It's difficult to sell a wrestling match featuring an actor to some, but Mr. T entered a decent performance that actually, somewhat amazingly, didn't detract from the quality of the bout.
'Rowdy' Roddy Piper was at his arrogant best as the chief antagonist, ably backed by 'Mr. Wonderful' Paul Orndorff as his tag-team partner in crime. Hulk Hogan was simply riding the crest of a wave he helped create, deservedly headlining what was then the WWF's biggest ever show.
Fans went wild for Hulk in 1985, and they hated Piper just as much as they adored Hogan. Perhaps a singles match between the two men would have been the better choice, but Vince McMahon wanted to mix celebrity with wrestling, which is why Mr. T was involved.
The results were...interesting. There are undoubtedly better matches from an in-ring perspective, but it'd feel like dodging the proverbial elephant in the room by not including this one here. It was such an important match and meant so much to the success of the show.
It's one of the biggest tag matches in 'Mania history.
