Leaping on a landmine, the company were forced to scramble for a roster of available talent when the bulk of the crew got trapped in Saudi Arabia following yet another bizarre Crown Jewel event. After a day of scrambling for gossip on how and why the WWE plane couldn't get off the ground, attention turned to how the blue brand would manage it. Instead, they were given the black-and-gold standard.

Triple H and the gang were helped by happenstance - an advert that aired the prior night announced that NXT would feature as part of Survivor Series for the first time, giving 'The Game' storyline justification to bring his troops to the Fox show to make a point of what the regular rank-and-file could expect.

That it closed a narrative loop was a mere bonus by the end anyway. A main event banger between Adam Cole and Daniel Bryan capped off an absorbing evening that also saw Shayna Baszler, Rhea Ripley, Matt Riddle, Keith Lee and a host of others profiled in two-pronged pitch for the November pay-per-view and the weekly Wednesday show.
