3. The Shield Vs. The Wyatt Family - Elimination Chamber 2014
Hand over heart, this is my personal favourite match on the list. The Shield had been putting on great trios matches since arriving on the scene, but the elephant in the room came in the shape of three bearded weirdos (beardos?) from the swamp. A head-on collision was inevitable, and that collision came at the Elimination Chamber event in 2014. The pace of the match was incredible. The crowd was on fire, creating an atmosphere that felt unique in modern professional wrestling. The Shield played the babyface role and played it to a tee, showing the true ability and talent of all three members. The nuances of The Shield truly came to the fore, Rollins bringing the fire, Ambrose the insanity and Reigns the intensity. Everything that made them a great trio was showcased. Ultimately they were defeated by the fact that they were three great individuals performing as a great trio, as opposed to a great trio performing as a great individual. The Wyatts systematically dissected them, with Ambrose being discarded in the crowd and Rollins getting his through the announce table. Reigns almost pulled off the unthinkable but the odds were too much, the Wyatts picking up the victory after a Sister Abigail. Why this match didn't happen at WrestleMania is beyond me, but the fact that it happened at all is a wonderful thing.
