10 Best Wrestling Matches Of The Week (July 4)

7. Kurt Angle vs. Ethan Carter III (TNA)

TNA wants ratings over PPV buys. That's not a bad strategy for the long-term security of their company but how wise was it to push this TNA Championship match to their weekly show instead of on Slammiversary?

Having never been pinned or submitted, Ethan Carter III has been protected during his run in TNA. This match felt like the big moment that it should have been and sort of delivered. But only sort of.

There's was almost 15 minutes of pretty solid action between these two but that all would end as Tyrus became involved after a ref bump. After his interference, EC3 would ultimately get his win via a rollup. A more definitive ending would have been nice for Ethan.

This was still an enjoyable affair but it could have been more. This moment didn't 'make' Carter like it should have. There's nothing wrong with a heel champ who cheats to win, but hopefully he can get some untainted wins in the future.
