10 Best WWE Moments From Wrestlers Who Just Got Released
Mass firings mean saying goodbye to these WWE Superstars, but we'll never forget these moments!
Yesterday evening, a press release was issued by WWE outlining their plans to save money in a bid to combat current world events. However, no one could have imagined that shortly after, a total of nearly 40 wrestlers, producers, writers, and other talent would all be future endeavoured.
Yearly mass firings were once the norm in WWE, but the company has gone to great lengths to keep Superstars around in recent years, especially with the successful emergence of All Elite Wrestling.
Regardless, it's a terrible time for these WWE employees to be sent home, especially as the pause button has essentially been hit on the wrestling business. Some shocking names have been fired, and while we're forced to say goodbye to them (for now, at least), many of them were responsible for some incredible WWE moments we definitely won't forget for a long time to come.
From WrestleMania Moments to unforgettable debuts, and even meme worthy visuals, these released Superstars certainly made an impact, regardless of their place on the card. Things aren't easy for anyone right now, and as sad as it is to think about this insane number of firings (and the fact there's likely more to come), we can take solace in reliving these amazing WWE moments.
10. Zack Ryder Wins The Intercontinental Championship At WrestleMania
WrestleMania 32 was a weird one. With a depleted roster, WWE had to make the best out of a bad situation, and ended up delivering a lot of very unexpected booking decisions as the night went on. A lot of matches didn't pan out as expected, and while that's not necessarily a bad thing, some fans were left baffled by the decisions which were made.
Well, one that everyone could get on board with saw Zack Ryder climb to the top of a ladder to win the Intercontinental Championship in a bout which also included Sami Zayn, Dolph Ziggler, Sin Cara, The Miz, Stardust, and Kevin Owens. He got to celebrate at ringside with his father, and while he lost the title the next night (a truly dumb decision by WWE), Ryder got his WrestleMania Moment.
That's not something many wrestlers - including most of those listed here - can say, and the image of Ryder holding that title as the crowd went wild won't be forgotten for a long time to come. It's just a shame WWE never really gave him a serious run as Intercontinental Champion!
