10. Bodies - Drowning Pool (SummerSlam 2001)
The failed concept of 'The Invasion' may have been short on star power but one thing it certainly had in big, oily spades was bodies. Going into SummerSlam 2001, WWE had an inflated roster with existing superstars aligning with the invading force whilst new stars fought for their place in the shuffle.
With an intense unpredictability to the storyline, WWE jumped on the recently released Bodies by Texan Nu Metal outfit, Drowning Pool. The song is a frantic, brash, and thundering anthem of angst riddled warfare that beautifully mirrored the direction WWE were heading in at the time.
Presented with an emphatic refrain almost tailor made to be played over images of the warring factions trading signature moves, WWE exploited the situation beautifully in a number of fantastic video packages throughout the show.
Bodies went on to enjoy considerable success due to its association with SummerSlam and would be wheeled out again for ECW’s One Night Stand in both 2005 and 2006.
