No Mercy is shaping up to be a great show - will it top some of these red brand classics?
WWE No Mercy is looking like the most stacked pay-per-view in a long time. The event is a RAW-exclusive show, featuring the stars and championships of the flagship brand, and will include a number of genuine WrestleMania-worthy matches. Braun Strowman vs. Brock Lesnar and John Cena vs. Roman Reigns have long been dream matches, and mean No Mercy could be the best WWE pay-per-view in a long time.
There have been 28 RAW-exclusive pay-per-views in history, stretching from Insurrextion all the way back in May 2002 to the modern day. The brand split returned in 2016, and the red show pay-per-views have followed a frustrating theme ever since - lots of good wrestling brought down by nonsensical booking and lame finishes.
Even so, it is difficult to complain about Samoa Joe vs. Seth Rollins when you compare it with Maven vs. Rodney Mack or Tyson Tomko vs. Stevie Richards (in drag). RAW pay-per-views have been a mixed bag throughout history. The good has been very good but the bad has been absolutely atrocious. Let’s just focus on the best of the best.
