10 Biggest Career Hangovers In WrestleMania History

4. Eddie Guerrero (After WrestleMania XX)

One of the greatest and most emotionally-satisfying moments in WrestleMania history was when Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit celebrated together, as confetti rained down on them. Eddie had won the WWE Championship at No Way Out by defeating Brock Lesnar, and had defeated Kurt Angle in a title defense earlier on the Mania card. WWE seemed happy with Guerrero€™s popularity, and so they were going to keep him as the top man on SmackDown. Unfortunately, Eddie€™s WrestleMania win would contrast greatly with his post-WrestleMania success. While others on this list suffered post-WrestleMania hangovers due in part to bad booking, Eddie€™s problem was his own constant pain. Many of Eddie€™s former co-workers have spoken on how Eddie was dealing with serious injuries and constant pain during his reign as WWE Champion, but as Champion he had to set the standard and be anywhere and everywhere for the company while carrying that belt. While Eddie did have some good matches after WrestleMania XX, he was incredibly unhappy, due in part from those injuries, but also from taking the ratings and success of the shows personally. All in all, it seemed as though Eddie€™s WrestleMania glory was as good as it would get for his run as Champion. Eddie eventually lost the title to the newly-repackaged JBL at Judgment Day 2004. Eddie was said to have been relieved when he lost the belt, as he was now free of the stress that comes with it. It€™s unfortunate that Eddie never got to replicate his WrestleMania XX success; he really deserved the recognition for his hard work.
