This is a spot that WWE performers started doing in the early 2000s it seems. While it's hard to recall who was the first to do it, Kurt Angle's name does come to mind. He was one of the two guys known for throwing German Suplexes along with Chris Benoit. Others have done them, but they were the ones that did them multiple times in nearly every match. A German Suplex is an impressive looking hold as one guy wraps his hand around the waist of another guy and drops them backwards on their head/neck. The person taking the bump just does it like a regular back bump on their shoulder and their arms spread out to brace for the landing. If people take the bump that way it's fine. Where it gets to be a little much is when somebody does a moonsault after taking the move. It happened in the WrestleMania 19 main event match between Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar. Lesnar's Shooting Star Press botch is what people remember the most from that much, but it's so impressive to see a 280 pound guy doing a flip after a German Suplex. If it was somebody like Rey Mysterio it's understandable. For Lesnar to do it was amazing. If you really want to see huge German Suplex spot into a moonsault, remember this one by Daniel Bryan doing it to Seth Rollins off the top rope.Once again we're not complaining about it. It's awesome. It's still overselling.
