10 Biggest Stories From New Japan's G1 Special And What They Mean Going Forward

7. Ospreay & Okada Weather The Ingobernable Storm

New Japan’s CHAOS and Los Ingobernables de Japon factions always seem to find themselves across the ring from each other and the G1 Special was no different. Former IWGP champ, Kazuchika Okada teamed with an eager Will Ospreay against LIJ’s Tetsuya Naito and BUSHI.

The heavyweight rivals with a storied past quickly paired off in a battle of strikes, dominance, and showboating. As always, Naito’s “tranquilo” antics were on full display. However, it was the junior heavyweights who stole the attention, as the UK’s Will Ospreay was able to secure the win for his team following a Stormbreaker finishing maneuver to BUSHI.

While the juniors will be sitting out the annual G1 Climax, both Okada and Naito will be taking part. However, the two former heavyweight champions will be in separate Blocks of competition -- meaning the only way they will face-off is if they both make it to the finals. Of course, nothing is impossible when talking about storied champion Okada and the dastardly Naito.
