10 Biggest Surprises Of Lucha Underground Season 4 (So Far... )

10. The First Bad Aztec Warfare

Like all promotions, Lucha Underground has experienced soaring highs and depressing lows. In Season 4's premiere episode, it was more of the latter than the former.

Usually, the chaotic Royal Rumble-inspired free-for-all known as Aztec Warfare is a sure fire hit. Rivalries are sparked or renewed, surprise entrants pop the crowd, and there are always joyously ridiculous spots, usually involving Joey Ryan and handcuffs. Even in Season 3 when Sexy Star won it in an underwhelming climax, the match itself was still well-executed and very entertaining.

But this year's edition was decidedly lackluster. The surprise entrants (Tommy Dreamer? Mr. Pectacular?) were lame, and the action failed to inspire. Only Jake Strong, Pentagon Dark, and bafflingly, Chavo Guerrero, were booked like worthy competitors.

As the opening salvo of Season 4, it certainly surprised, but with a whimper instead of a bang.
