3. Signature Pharmacy

In the summer of 2007, 13 years after Vince McMahon narrowly avoided jail time through the steroid scandal, his company was once again embroiled in a drug-related PR nightmare. 

On August 30th, WWE announced it was suspending a number of its wrestlers. They had been informed by the Albany District Attorney's office that some of their talent were clients of an online steroid vendor named Signature Pharmacy. 

The names implicated in the report ranged from midcarders like Johnny Nitro and William Regal to main eventers like Edge and Randy Orton. Worryingly, ESPN reported that Eddie Guerrero had purchased multiple substances from the site just a fortnight before his death. 

While Batista, Booker T, and others all denied using Signature Pharmacy, it was too late to save WWE's public image. It was already in the pits following a string of tragedies. This was the last thing they needed. 

WWE's response was swift and strict. Wrestlers linked to the scandal were taken off TV and had future pushes cancelled. Things didn't get anywhere near as bad as they did in 1994, but nobody could be sure of that at the time.
