10 Biggest WWE Crimes CM Punk Totally Got Away

9. Being Able To Use His 'Own' Name

Something that has already happened is Phil Brooks being able to use his own chosen pro wrestling name when he signed to the WWE system. Looking at the way the promotion operate now, they seriously dislike allowing incoming performers to use a moniker they have used elsewhere. There are notable exceptions of course, such as AJ Styles and Samoa Joe. When CM Punk burst onto the scene in WWE, it was just before the company started renaming everyone with their own trademarked names. There's a reason that Bryan Danielson was called Daniel Bryan in WWE, after all. For Punk, that problem never existed, and he never agreed to let the McMahon family own the rights to the tag either. This means he can use it for other projects. That must anger Vince McMahon, who has a sense of ownership over everyone who passes through his organisation. Phil Brooks is using the CM Punk name to help promote his MMA debut in UFC. Going back to his WWE debut as part of the ECW brand, it's remarkable that he wasn't asked to change to something WWE had created themselves.
