10 Bloodiest Wrestling Matches Ever Broadcast

7. No Mercy 2002: Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker

Just as the Undertaker€™s first match with Triple H at Wrestlemania 17 beats their overblown second two encounters a decade or so later, this first Hell In A Cell bout exceeds anything from the Undertaker and Brock Lesnar€™s surprisingly enjoyable feud this year. As non-PG as it gets, there€™s blood all over this match. A previous vicious assault from Lesnar had caused the Undertaker to need his arm in a cast: naturally, this meant that the first order of business was to bust Lesnar open with the cast. Lesnar tends to bleed lightly but easily at the drop of a hat - the skin tightly stretched over that orclike body bursts if you flick it with your finger, but there€™s no room for blood in there in amongst all the muscle and the hate. And then comes the blade job. Calaway is clearly determined to put Lesnar over like gangbusters - by the end of the match, the Undertaker looks more like Hellboy. Paul Heyman even gets in on the action, being repeatedly yanked and slammed facefirst into the cage by a handful of tie and bleeding like a trooper. This is not the best Hell In A Cell match - that honour still goes to the first one. It€™s not the most wince-inducing - that€™s still the car crash that is the second one. It is, however, the most brutal in the WWF/E€™s history: two massive, fearless men in their prime telling a gory story about dominance and the alpha male.
