10 Bold AEW Predictions For 2024

10. Daniel Garcia Wins The International Championship

Speaking to Renee Paquette in early January, Daniel Garcia stated his intentions of becoming an asset to AEW and “somebody that can be built around”. This was off the back of a, frankly, disappointing run in the Continental Classic, where he picked up a sole win over Brody King. However, his performances throughout the tournament were buzz-worthy and showed how talented the young man is.

On January 3rd, after an episode of Dynamite, Tony Khan came out and announced to the crowd in attendance that they will be seeing “a lot more” of Garcia in 2024. This was high praise and a big promise from AEW’s CEO, which seemed to suggest that Garcia’s performances have been noted by the staff in the back. The perfect way to crown a push for the ‘Dragon Slayer’ would be with a big International Championship win in 2024.

With the strap currently being held by Orange Cassidy, and with Roderick Strong breathing down the neck of ‘Freshly Squeezed’, it could be logical for Garcia to insert himself as a babyface challenger to Roderick Strong after he claims the belt. Standing up to him and the Undisputed Kingdom would present him as the underdog, and make a win that much sweeter. A much-deserved crowning moment that fans should expect to see before the year is out. Most likely, expect AEW to pull the trigger on this at a New York-based show (perhaps as late as World's End) and give the hometown hero his flowers.
