10 Brutal Wrestling Moments To Show Non-Fans

2. Steve Austin Passes Out In The Sharpshooter

Again, as is the case with previous entries, many non-wrestling fans are unlikely to be impressed by the story behind Steve Austin vs. Bret Hart. The WrestleMania 13 match is considered a classic, partly due to the double turn that happened between both men and the intense brawling style they favoured. People could be forgiven for believing Hart and Austin legitimately detested one another, watching this ultra-intense scrap. In truth, they respected each other immensely. Listening to Austin speak about Bret now, it's clear he feels the 'Hitman' did everything to aid his rise through the WWF ranks en route to becoming a top star. Aside from all that narrative, the actual bout itself was meaty and dramatic. There's no more poignant moment from Austin's career to show a non-fan than him passing out, his face wearing the proverbial crimson mask, whilst locked in Hart's Sharpshooter submission hold. Unwilling to give up and quit, 'Stone Cold' instead lost consciousness as the bout roared to an end. Those looking on from outside the industry will probably know who both men are, but they will be overcome with the melodrama of it all. Caked in his own blood, Austin's body looks like it gives out on him even though his spirit is unwilling to do the same.
