10 Conclusions From WWE Money In The Bank 2015
The final word on this year's MITB PPV.
Money In The Bank came to us from Columbus, Ohio, and afforded 7 WWE superstars the opportunity to climb the ladder and claim the Money In The Bank briefcase, containing a contract for a WWE World Heavyweight title match any time, any place. Roman Reigns, Dolph Ziggler, Kofi Kingston, Kane, Neville, Sheamus and Randy Orton were the men looking to scale the heights, while inflicting as much damage on each other as possible. In the end, after fighting off a late challenge from Neville, it was the Celtic Warrior, Sheamus, who became Mr. Money In The Bank.
An action-packed PPV brought us a fine celebration of the life of WWE Hall Of Famer, Dusty Rhodes, along with a Divas match between Nikki Bella and Paige that required some padding towards the end. The Miz ruined any chance of a compelling Intercontinental title matchup, while John Cena emerged victorious against a breathtakingly brilliant, resilient, and bah gawd, utterly dastardly Kevin Owens.
New tag champs were crowned in the form of the Prime Time Players, while Triple H made sure he had more than enough bass in his voice to inspire WWE Champion Seth Rollins to show Dean Ambrose and everybody else who was watching just why he picked The Architect to be the future of WWE.
Here are 10 Conclusions from Money In The Bank 2015...
10. Money In The Bank Is The New King Of The Ring
Someone should have a quiet word with King Barrett and break the Bad News: becoming WWE's King Of The Ring ain't what it used to be. While his former Nexus charges, Ryback and Darren Young, were scheduled to be involved in Intercontinental and Tag Team title matches respectively later that night, their old leader Barrett was getting pinned by the increasingly bonkers R-Truth as part of the kickoff show.
Unlike winning the Money In The Bank briefcase, winning the King Of The Ring tournament guarantees nothing, as Barrett is finding out to his cost. He has no guaranteed title shot, and doesn't appear to be earmarked for anything special any time soon. Where WWE fans used to look to the King Of The Ring winner for their future WWE Champion, they now look to Mr. Money In The Bank.
Barrett might have been encouraged to see another former King Of The Ring (whose own reign also amounted to little more than comic relief for its duration), Sheamus, claiming the briefcase later on that night. Trouble is, Sheamus had already won the WWE title twice before that and has been in or around the main event ever since he debuted, adding a World Heavyweight title along the way. Unless he decides to go and lift weights with Hunter like the Celtic Warrior, it's difficult to see Barrett recovering and claiming a briefcase of his own any time soon.
