Ok, so the Legion Of Doom and Demolition did technically face each other in a match, but it wasn't the classic Axe & Smash lineup for the latter. By the time both tandems met in 1990, Demolition had added a third member, Crush, to the group, and it seemed like Bill "Ax" Eadie was headed for retirement. Demolition would never be quite as popular with their younger recruit, and the magic was pretty much gone by the time they eventually stood toe-to-toe with LOD. Both teams had been compared to one another, and fans were salivating at the prospect of seeing them face off, but many wanted to see the original Demolition, rather than this new breed.A feud was kick-started in the Summer of '90, but proposed matches at the 1991 Royal Rumble and WrestleMania VII were cancelled, disappointing many who were craving a classic confrontation between these face-painted warriors. Speaking of warriors, The Ultimate Warrior would join LOD for a six-man tag bout at Saturday Night's Main Event against Demolition, but Ax & Smash would never face Hawk & Animal in a straight match.
