10 Dumbest Decisions By WWE Champions
2. Edge - Not Remembering How He Made It
There was a real charm to the type of loss Edge ate when CM Punk won his first World Heavyweight Championship in 2008.
'The Rated-R Superstar' had just taken a beating from a raging Dave Batista, having turned up on Monday Night Raw just to gloat about the show no longer having a Champion after that year's Draft. 'The Animal' was seething over failing to claim his world title back then being drafted away from SmackDown, but his assault opened the door for a red brand star to take advantage of his golden ticket.
Edge, for all his grandstanding, should have known better. As the original 'Ultimate Opportunist' in 2005 and again in 2007, his failure to consider the ramifications of such a situation spoke to how blinded he'd become by his own arrogance.
With one Go2Sleep on the already-downed Champion, Punk was able to keep Money In The Bank's 100% success rate stable, forcing Edge back to SmackDown to try his luck (lol) with WWE Champion Triple H instead.
