10 Epic Million Dollar Ideas WCW Refused To Use

6. A Less Is More Concept

Something which seriously contributed towards WCW's downfall was just how much television they were producing. A three hour Nitro show and a two hour Thunder show were way too much wrestling in one week for even the most ardent fans. Scarily, WWE are now producing even more television than that. There's the three hour Raw, and now you've got both NXT and Smackdown. Just like Thunder, Smackdown is like a redundant after thought. So much television makes fans jaded, and WCW would have been wise to use a less is more philosophy. Granted, they may have been doing well with advertisers, more TV time is more ad slots. But what was that worth a few years later, when everyone had tuned out, and the company was sold for a pittance? The toll on WCW's production staff was also severe. Five hours of television to write a week? Then all the filming and production responsibilities? It was too much, and the strain showed backstage. A less is more concept would have in the long run been worth millions more than the full on approach that ultimately weighed everyone down.
