Considering all the old WWF names WCW chased after, they really should have gone after some of the new WWF names in the late nineties. Sure, a Rock or Austin weren't going to come cheap, but WCW could have found the money via cuts elsewhere. The real challenge may have been in negotiations and possible WWF legal challenges, but if WCW could have got a deal done it would have been huge. Would Austin or Rock have gone down south? Both were WWF to the core, but they were also two of the smartest businessmen. You have to follow the money at their level. WCW did end up making a play for The Undertaker in 2000, but Rock or Austin would have been the biggest capture they could have made. If they had landed one of those names, even at a great cost, it could have ended up making millions and WCW may still have been around today.
