10 Familiar Faces AEW Should Sign
10. Luke Harper
It's Wednesday night wars. You know what that means.
If you follow Luke Harper (of WWE, to give his proper title) on Twitter, you will have read something very similar to this (sans the extra two words for context) since 31 October 2016. What does this cryptic social media account mean?
Well, it very well could have coincided with when Harper growing dissatisfied with his stint in WWE. This could have been a countdown of sorts to the end of his contract. It originally was thought to be ending in November 2019. But then, he requested early release in April. WWE not only said no, they also found a loophole allowing them to add six more months to his deal due to injuries, extending it to around May.
So this one is a bit of a waiting game, for sure. But there seems to be more to the story as to why he requested his release when he did, and the subsequent extension. Was it a knee jerk reaction to Jon Moxley? Or were they convinced he was already jumping ship?
We can’t be sure at this point, at least until his new extension runs out. But it sure does seem like a new day is coming for Harper. And you know what that means.
