10 Fascinating WWE Royal Rumble 1995 Facts
4. Jim Neidhart Was Supposed To Be An Entry Into The Match
"The Anvil" resurfaced in 1994 as a heel, assisting brother-in-law Owen in his bid to win the WWE Championship from Neidhart's former Hart Foundation partner, Bret. As the year wore on, Owen and Neidhart teamed more and more, and were even entered into the tournament to fill the Tag Team title vacancy.
As the calendar flipped to 1995, Neidhart was no longer with the company, having missed a handful of shows and losing his job as a result. Neidhart figured into the short-term plans, and was set to take part in his first Rumble match since 1991.
Neidhart's official replacement in the match was Rick Martel, making a one-off comeback after several months away. The two have a connection: Martel had made Neidhart submit to the Boston Crab in October 1987, allowing Strike Force to win the Tag Team belts from The Hart Foundation.
