9. Sgt. Slaughter (132 Days)

A bit of a contentious entry here, because Sgt. Slaughter’s initial debut arrived some 3,826 days before his first WWE title win. So not a particularly speedy push at all.

But what we’ve got to consider here is that there were a number of gaps over the course of those years, including a four-year hiatus between 1986 and 1990. And furthermore, when he did eventually return at the start of the '90s, it was in a drastically different capacity.

Having written to Vince McMahon expressing his interest in returning, this time Vince would have Slaughter come back with a staunch, anti-American gimmick.

His official return came in August 1990 at a WWF Wrestling Challenge taping. But again, it wouldn’t air until the following month on 9 September. Meaning that by the time he captured the gold at the 1991 Royal Rumble on 19 January, he’d had to wait just 132 days to reach a height that had previously eluded him.

It may not have been the quickest push for Robert Remus, the man behind the gimmick, personally. But for his anti-US, Middle Eastern-sympathising character, it was a push worthy of 9th spot on this list.
