10. Jake Roberts Calls ‘Fake Razor & Diesel’ Stupid

Jake Roberts has one hell of a death's door to living life to the fullest redemption story. God only knows how useful Jake could've been to the WWF's creative cause had he been on the straight and narrow back in the mid-90s. The 'Snake' has always had a genius-level mind for the biz - his psychology is often insanely brilliant.

He didn't need that to predict the 'Fake Razor' and 'Fake Diesel' idea would flop though.

Roberts was someone Vince McMahon leaned on for creativity in 1996, but he ignored Jake calling cosplay acts of Scott Hall and Kevin Nash stupid. That word is one the Hall Of Famer has used in multiple shoot interviews to describe what Rick Bognar and Glenn Jacobs were asked to do: Dress up as Razor and Diesel respectively.

Jake thought the whole thing was naff, and pointed out that it'd only make fans think of Hall and Nash then flip over to watch them work for WCW. It was counter-productive, and was never going to last long. In fact, it's a minor miracle that Jacobs went on to redeem himself as Kane.

Side note: Shawn Michaels was nice to Bognar and actually gave him some friendly advice backstage. Rick told this story during a chat with the Two Man Power Trip podcast. He wasn't expecting HBK to be so helpful about someone cosplaying his mate.
