8. Brian Kendrick
Rumour has it that Shawn Michaels didn’t have a whole lot to do with the training, but HBK’s wrestling school certainly produced an impressive roster of graduates. Daniel Bryan is the most famous of the lot, but Paul London, Brian Kendrick, Hernandez, Milano Collection A.T and Lance Cade are also among the Texas Wrestling Academy alumni section.
London, Kendrick and Cade all had decent runs in WWE (most notably in tag team competition), but the tale of Brian Kendrick remains the most frustrating of them all. Kendrick initially came into the company as Spanky, an undersized battler best known for being utterly obliterated by Brock Lesnar. It was all very forgettable.
Kendrick’s best run came between 2005 and 2008, a period that began with unprecedented tag team success and ended with the closest he has been to getting truly over with the WWE audience. That was during the ‘The Brian Kendrick’ days, although the addition of Big Zeke as a bodyguard was the end of that.
Brian Kendrick is a hugely talented performer, one who continues to wrestle at an extremely high-level today. He really is an example of the audience not knowing greatness when it is right in front of them.
