10 Great Wrestling Feuds That Spanned Multiple Promotions
One company wasn't enough to contain these epic wrestling stories.
One of the great things about wrestling is that one performer can make a living by travelling between different promotions all over the world.
Though less common now than it was in the days of the territory system, wrestlers still crop up in all sorts of different places throughout their careers, be it across the United States or overseas in places like Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, or Japan.
One of the draws of this nomadic lifestyle is getting to work with all sorts of different people, but sometimes, one rivalry will follow a wrestler no matter where they go, giving fans some of the richest and deepest feuds in the history of the squared circle.
These ten pairs of grapplers have all had noteworthy matches and storylines in more than one different promotion. Heel/face alignments, wrestling styles, and even names may change, but the chemistry between those involved does not.
In promotions big and small, in front of hundreds of people or tens or thousands, these wrestlers are like Batman and the Joker - destined to do this forever. No matter when, or where.
10. Bryan Danielson vs Nigel McGuinness
Until late 2024, the rivalry between "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson and "Mr. Terrible Haircuts" Nigel McGuinness was very much a Ring of Honor story.
The pair of technical geniuses first met in 2006, and feuded over both Danielson's World Championship and McGuinness' Pure Championship. They would tangle a few more times over the years, including when McGuinness was the World champ, before they drifted apart for over a decade.
Danielson would go on to achieve wild success in WWE, whilst his British foe would end up in TNA under the name Desmond Wolfe. Both men would be forced into retirement through various health issues, rendering a rematch little more than a pipe dream.
Until AEW came along.
Whilst working as a commentator, McGuinness would regularly throw jibes at his former rival, leading to speculation that a match between the two was brewing. Lo and behold, at Grand Slam 2024, the two had their first match together in 15 years, and you know what, it was pretty darn good.
It remains to be seen if this rivalry will continue, but at least ROH fans got one last chapter of this epic tale.
