10 Great WWE Feuds That Never Got A One-On-One WrestleMania Match

10. Gunther vs. Sheamus

By 2022, Sheamus had been in WWE for over a decade and was getting stale. He could still go in the ring, sure, but many felt as if his best days were behind him.

And then he met a giant man from Austria.

The Celtic Warrior was booked to face Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship at Clash at the Castle. Did this event take place in Wales rather than Sheamus' home country of Ireland? Yes. Do WWE care? Or even know the difference? Not at all.

The two behemoths slapped each other silly in front of a rabid crowd. The match received the full five stars from Dave Meltzer and was easily the greatest match of Sheamus' career.

The stage was set for a rematch at the upcoming WrestleMania 29. Instead, WWE chucked in Drew McIntyre and made it a triple threat.

This sounds like I'm complaining. I'm not. The three-way was awesome, possibly even better than the original. However, it still felt weird that Sheamus didn't get his big solo moment.

The Irishman hasn't had a 'Mania match since, which feels even weirder.
