6. Jim Ross And Jerry Lawler

It's not only those actually wrestling matches that are crucial to the success of them. A good set of announcers can really take good bouts and make them special. That was exactly the role of both Jim Ross and Jerry 'The King' Lawler throughout the 'Attitude Era'. So good were the pair that several top stars, including the likes of Steve Austin and The Undertaker, demanded that they be on commentary for their big matches. Ross has stated that the talkative tandem didn't really need a lot of notes to get through broadcasts, because they could play off of one another easily. JR played the straight play-by-play man, whilst Lawler's witty banter and ability to get under his partner's skin made them highly entertaining. On occasion, Lawler's biased cheering for the heels brought out the best in Jim Ross. WWE wanted to replace Ross several times behind the announce table, but eventually kept coming back to him for years. His relationship with Lawler was key to the excitement surrounding the company towards the turn of the millennium. It would have been unthinkable to have an 'Attitude Era' without the commentary pairing, which is really a tremendous compliment.
