Many backstage wrestling ribs are simple schoolboy pranks. Boots in the shower, hide the gym bag, laxative in the protein shake.... that kind of thing.

Owen's were a cut above. His telephone skills and ability to prey on his victim's ego meant he was able to pull off much more sophisticated shenanigans. Ahmed Johnson remembers receiving a phone-call telling him he was to be featured as a guest on none other than The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. This would be huge for anyone in entertainment but especially for a wrestler whose profession was often not given this kind of mainstream respect.

In preparation, Johnson splashed out on a brand new $4000 suit as well as complementary jewellery. He was told that a limousine would be pick him up at eight o'clock and take him to the television studio but was left standing on the kerb when no vehicle arrived.

Becoming frustrated, Johnson was surprised to see none other than Owen Hart and Davey Boy Smith appear to ask him what he was up to.
