10 Hometown Heroes That Were Embarrassed By WWE
3. The Miz In Cleveland
Cleveland, OH boys Dolph Ziggler and The Miz engaged in something of a hometown popularity contest on SmackDown a few months ago, and it continued the latter’s long string of misfortune on his own city. His two worst hometown moments came in 2011 and 2013, with both dealing immeasurable damage to Miz’s credibility.
In September 2011, Miz and his partner R-Truth were summoned to Triple H’s office. They had attacked the Game and CM Punk during a match at the previous evening’s Night of Champions PPV, and were both fined $250k for the incident. The humiliation didn’t end there, however, and after wrestling Punk and John Cena in the night’s main event, Miz and Truth fell victim to another great WWE cliché by being “fired” live on-air.
As bad as that sounds, 2013 was worse. Miz was faced to fed an enraged Randy Orton, who was on a company-wide warpath after losing his WWE Championship and was looking for a punching bag. With Miz’s friends and family in attendance, Orton utterly obliterated Miz, leaving him unconscious, and writing him off WWE television for several weeks.
Talk about a kick in the mouth...
