5. Sid Vicious Breaks His Leg

Sid Vicious is arguably more well known for his infamous blunders on the microphone than any of his performances inside the ring. His legendary €œI have half the brain that you do€ quip will go down in wrestling infamy. However, Sid was a popular performer for many years in the wrestling world. Despite this, no one would argue that Sid was a technical marvel between the ropes. Prior to a WCW World Heavyweight Championship match at 2001€™s Sin PPV, it was suggested to Sid that he try and diversify his offensive arsenal. WCW management had taken it upon themselves to suggest that Sid try some high-risk maneuvers. You know the one thing a 6€™9€, 300-plus pound wrestler with limited in-ring abilities should never try? That€™s right, aerial moves. Well, to Sid€™s credit, he gave it a go during the bout, and it ended horribly. Sid climbed to the second turnbuckle and jumped off. He hit Scott Steiner with a flying big boot, landing with all his weight and force on one leg. Sid€™s leg instantly snapped in half. It was a truly horrifying sight, as Sid€™s lower leg bent to the side and just flopped around. Sid could do nothing and just laid on the mat until the match€™s conclusion. Sadly, Sid€™s career was essentially over because of the injury. He made a few brief appearances for smaller promotions and has wrestled a handful of contests for independent shows across the country, but Sid was never the same again.
