2022 was certainly a year, wasn't it?

With all the drama going on in WWE and AEW, it's been easy to forget about the actual wrestlers who make up 90% of what we love about professional wrestling. The other 10% is split between sparkly costumes and the idea of Vince McMahon getting fired.

Many wrestlers have had their big breakout years in 2022, whilst many others have been fired or let go from their respective companies. As per usual, it's been a year of ups and downs, but let's focus on the ups as we look ahead to 2023.

Next year, hundreds of currently unsigned wrestlers will be vying to get snapped up by the biggest companies in the world. Conversely, those already signed with major promotions might want to jump ship and see if the grass is actually greener on the other side.

These ten performers are all currently free agents, are heavily rumoured to become free agents soon, or are basically free agents in all but name.

We think that 2023 is destined to be a big year for all of them. Hopefully for good reasons, rather than bad ones.

10. Mandy Rose

Well, this was a very late addition.

Just one day after losing her NXT Women's Championship to Roxanne Perez, Mandy Rose was released by WWE following a disagreement over her exclusive fan content.

Basically, Mandy was too sexy for WWE, a company that famously let its performers pose nude for Playboy.

Rose's release has sparked a major discussion in the wrestling community, making her one of the hottest names in the industry right now. Even without her controversial release, her recent run in NXT has primed her nicely for a spell on the indies.

She held the NXT Women's Title for 413 days, one of the longest in history. She also dominated the brand's women's division alongside Gigi Dolan and Jacy Jayne as Toxic Attraction.

With all this in her favour, Mandy will surely have no shortage of job offers once her no-compete clause is up. You can definitely see AEW making an offer for her.

Equally, she could walk away from the business entirely. She owns a skincare business, co-owns a donut business with Sonya Deville, plus there's the FanTime stuff.

She is more than taken care of financially.
