10 HUGE Wrestling Moments That Must Happen By 2022
2. WWE Promotes A Second Evolution Show
Evolution wasn't huge.
That, sadly, was the problem. It was however a sensational and rewarding show, the sequel to which would represent a huge gesture to fans disillusioned by WWE's drastically horrendous pandemic output.
Even the most cynical lapsed fans and unforgiving critics were high as hell on the first show. Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair worked one of the most hate-fuelled WWE plunder matches ever, Nikki Bella was superb in her manipulation of the crowd, emerging stars entered breakthrough performances, and even the less important matches were crafted with a loving detail. The killer Liv Morgan table bump exemplified how much everybody involved was up for a show boasting as much forward progression as joyful nostalgia.
The problem with doing it again is that an inanimate doll is the top star of a women's division that has gone to almost complete sh*t. Some of the acts are great, some of the matches are great, but the booking is so abject. This probably wasn't what Stephanie McMahon was talking about when she said she wanted to achieve parity with the men.
There's one kernel of hope: last year, the return of Roman Reigns at SummerSlam put a definitive end to the spooky misadventures of Braun Strowman and the Fiend. Reigns, an actual star, did not want to associate his brand with the nonsense.
The same could be true of Becky Lynch.
