Despite going into last year’s WrestleMania as part of the company’s hottest women’s angle, and currently holding the SmackDown Live Women’s Championship (and I had to double check that) Asuka’s not a guarantee for New Jersey.
Sadly with so much focus being on Becky/Charlotte/Ronda and the Raw Women’s Championship it’s blue brand counterpart has felt like something of an afterthought all year. Ask WWE fans who Asuka is facing at Fastlane and I reckon 90% might struggle to remember it’s Mandy Rose.
For the big one in April though there’s likely to be little need for a rematch, nor does it seem like Lacey Evans is being groomed as her opponent. At this stage the Empress of Tomorrow is either staring at a messy multi-woman match or a spot on the preshow.
