10 Indie Stars Ruined By WWE

9. Matt Sydal

You might be sitting there right now thinking that Matt Sydal had a pretty good run in WWE as Evan Bourne. He won the tag team titles alongside Kofi Kingston, after all - that's probably about as good as it's going to get for a performer of his size.

But his exploits since returning to the independent circuit are proof that he could have been much more than Rey Mysterio's plucky sidekick. He has character - the ability to play a face and a heel - and his in-ring ability amounts to more than just a kick-ass finisher.

In defence of Vince McMahon and co, part of the reason he didn't quite make it in WWE was because of persistent wellness policy violations, coupled with a serious injury he sustained away from the ring.

But even before all of that it seemed as though he was rapidly drifting towards the status of a lowly jobber, occasionally getting wheeled out on Raw to job to whichever monster heel the company felt like pushing at the time.
