3. George €˜The Animal€™ Steele

Before any of the €˜wild€™ characters entered the WWE, even the Wild Samoans, there was one character who confused his opponents and acted like a savage: George €˜the Animal€™ Steele.Though quite tame by today€™s standards, the Animal was quite a unique character in the late 60s and early 70s. He€™d turn his tongue green by eating mints, rip open the turnbuckles with his teeth and (appear to) eat the stuffing, and would speak barely coherent phrases. If this was the 1970s, then by those standards, George Steele would have probably been at least recommended to be sent to a mental institution. His outlandish and unusual behaviour and €˜missing link€™ appearance created a stark contrast between himself and the other, more €˜professional€™ athletes of his time. Should he have been committed? Well, he was a beloved figure that many fans enjoyed watching, yet he did rip open turnbuckles with his teeth and otherwise acted like a savage. The answer to this question I will leave in your hands€
