6. Hulk Hogan (2002)

Hulk Hogan is perhaps the most famous WWE Champion ever, but his last run with the title was a reactionary measure to the Hulkster's unexpected surge in popularity at WrestleMania X8.

Originally, Hogan had been brought back to WWE as the heel leader of the nWo. When WrestleMania X8 resulted in the majority of fans at the Toronto SkyDome cheering for Hogan over the babyface Rock, WWE quickly adjusted. The decision was made to not only turn Hogan back babyface, but put him in the red-and-yellow again and crown him WWE Champion for the sixth time at the next month's pay-per-view.

Also at WrestleMania X8, Chris Jericho lost the Undisputed WWE Championship to Triple H which began a game of hot-potato with the title quickly moving from one star to the next for the rest of the spring and summer. From The Game to Hogan, Hogan to The Undertaker, Undertaker to The Rock, and The Rock to Brock Lesnar, the WWE Championship changed hands five times in as many months from WrestleMania X8 through SummerSlam 2002.
