10 Legends Who Shockingly Invaded ECW

3. Dusty Rhodes

Dusty Rhodes€™ name was synonymous with World Championship Wrestling, and he had also spent a brief period of time with the World Wrestling Federation. No one expected €œThe American Dream€ to ever step foot in an ECW arena, let alone an ECW ring. But in 2000, big Dust did just that. In January of that year, ECW taped an edition of their TNN television show in Atlanta, Georgia. Rhodes had recently been let go from WCW, and Atlanta was long referred to as the company€™s home. Steve Corino, who was a hot heel on the rise in the company, proclaimed himself the €œKing of Old School€ and continually derided the fans for the lust for hardcore wrestling. The anti-hardcore crusader began the show by cutting a promo. He then blamed Dusty Rhodes -- who happened to be in the building -- for starting the €œhardcore revolution€ so many years before.Rhodes strode to the ring as Corino continued to deride €œThe American Dream.€ Finally, Dusty had enough and attacked Corino. The two began feuding which led to a Bull Rope match at that year€™s Living Dangerously PPV. Rhodes went on to defeat the €œKing of Old School€ in the contest and would leave the company shortly thereafter.
