10 Lessons From History That Could Solve All Of WWE's Problems

9. Create A Goldberg Style Undefeated Character

When Bill Goldberg had his first match on the September 22, 1997 edition of WCW Monday Nitro we didn't know it was the start of something big. He was a "rookie" that beat a known guy like Hugh Morrus and he didn't lose a match for over a year. He won the US Title and World Title along the way. It made him a huge star. An undefeated streak can really help a performer. Every time that person comes out, fans have an interest in him to see if he is going to lose or if he can keep the streak going. Goldberg became a massive star because of the streak. Of course his look and moves helped too, but the streak was what mattered. http://youtu.be/o1CQ5u2b12Q The most famous streak in wrestling is The Undertaker's WrestleMania streak that was ended last year. That took on a life of its own. It was treated like a big deal and the fans believed in it. When he lost, fans were upset because the streak was over huge. So was he, but the streak meant a lot too. If you look at how Rusev is booked, WWE hasn't had him get pinned or submitted since he's been on the main roster, but he's lost matches by DQ and countout. He's not really undefeated. He's also a heel, unlike what Goldberg was. What they need to do is have an undefeated wrestler that is a babyface. A possible candidate for this kind of role is Baron Corbin. He's booked like a badass in NXT. He won his matches so quickly that fans would start counting the time because they knew the match would be over soon. It was a very cool thing that made Corbin stand out. He's not undefeated, but he's presented like a future big star. A reason why WWE doesn't do characters like this is they want guys to "pay their dues" and lose before they get a push or else egos will get in the way. Wins and losses don't matter, though. It's part of the storyline. Wrestlers should accept that.
