10 Definitive Levels To The Rock & Triple H's Epic Rivalry

10. The Beginning

Let's start at the beginning where at Survivor Series 1996, The Blue Chipper, Rocky Maivia made his debut. After months of hype vignettes showcasing the future Rock doing basic things such as hip-tosses, he walked into Madison Square Garden set to be the white meat babyface who carried his proud African-American and Samoan heritage all the way to the top of the mountain in WWE. Well, he got there but not as WWE planned.

In that Survivor Series match where he debuted, he was flanked by a team of veterans including Barry Windham, Jake The Snake Roberts, and Wildman Marc Mero who was something to see before his knees went. Opposing him was a the team of Goldust, Jerry Lawler, Crush, and you guessed it Hunter Hearst Helmsley.

While HHH was the Intercontinental Champion, carrying on a feud with Marc Mero at the time, just looking at this match gave a glimpse of what was to come. The two newest faces on both sides, Rocky Maivia and Hunter Hearst Helmsley would be the only relevant wrestlers just two years after this point.

From this match their paths would cross a few months later, and really start things between them.
