Some six weeks after his WWF tryout he was asked by WCW to wrestled Giant Haystacks in a match as they were looking to possibly sign Haystacks. Regal had been wrestling on and off for a while, and it was felt that he would bring the best out of the mammoth Haystacks. Regal believes to this day that Scott Hall - who he had known from his time wrestling in Germany - arranged this tryout of sorts. They again liked what they saw. But this time, after Bill Watts had taken over the helms of WCW in 1992, he talked to them and in late 1992 agreed to join the company and eventually made the move in January of 1993. The WWF's loss was WCW's immediate gain.
