10 Matches We NEED To See At WWE SummerSlam 2021
Edge vs. Rollins, Reigns vs. Cena, and other matches to make SummerSlam a banger.
SummerSlam 2021 is going to be massive.
Take a look at WrestleMania 37, for example. It was WWE's first foray back into welcoming a live audience since the 9 March 2020 Raw and Main Event tapings. All the stops were pulled out for the weekend; this included Bad Bunny wrestling John Morrison and the Miz, Logan Paul accompanying Sami Zayn, and musical performances from Wale and Ash Costello.
That's without even mentioning Bianca Belair's emotional first title win in night one's main event over Sasha Banks, Omos' credible in-ring debut against the New Day, an all-time great 'Mania main event in Roman Reigns vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Edge, and Shane McMahon taking that bump from atop a steel cage.
Had there been no audience, there would be less of that, and more of Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler vs. Natalya and Tamina. Seriously, if Natalya and Tamina were winning the straps anyway, why not make a WrestleMania moment out of it?
SummerSlam might not top WrestleMania, but if Vince McMahon has his way, it actually could. Just read some reports about what/who the boss man is eyeing up for the 21 August pay-per-view. We probably won't get Cardi B to host the thing, but we could get these...
10. Raw Tag Team Titles: AJ Styles & Omos (c) Vs. RKBro
AJ Styles and Omos reigned supreme at WrestleMania, capturing the Raw Tag Team Championships from Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods in the latter's in-ring debut. That there have been two pay-per-views since then without a title defence from the duo, however, is sadly unsurprising.
WWE just doesn't care about tag team wrestling. The red brand's doubles champs were absent from almost a straight month of television in the immediate aftermath of 'Mania without an on-air explanation, and have made only two defences of their titles since (once over the New Day, and once over Elias and Jaxson Ryker).
They need a proper feud for SummerSlam, and who better than RKBro?
Okay, so there's not really any other viable option to challenge 'The Phenomenal One' and his massive goon unless Veer and Shanky receive a colossal push, but it does make sense.
Randy Orton and Riddle have easily been one of WWE's only actually great assets throughout the past few months, as their vastly different personalities have allowed for some terrific chemistry. A Money In The Bank win is unlikely for 'The Original Bro' come 18 July, but a Raw Tag Team Championships is the perfect way to get him on the SummerSlam card.
