10 Modern WWE Face Turns That Were Poorly Handled

2. Roman Reigns (2014)

Everything was going swimmingly for Reigns, so long as the Shield was in tact. Once Seth Rollins severed the trifecta, all three went their own ways, and Reigns began headed down the path of apparently no return. While the Shield's face turn continued portraying the group as fearless mercenaries, poor Reigns set adrift was about to get some 'help' from the office. Thus, smilin', happy Reigns was born. You know the one, a Reigns that is unaffected by taunts, threatens to make it rain (reign?), and spouts kiddie catchphrases that only The Rock has the talent to make halfway entertaining. WWE learned nothing from trying to give Sheamus the Cena-sheen, attempting to make Reigns into The Rock by force and through osmosis (see the end of the 2015 Royal Rumble). No push has ever been as intensely-scrutinized and maligned as Reigns' has, not even Cena's.
