Was anyone actually clamouring for Miz to turn face? While many heels have endearing qualities that make a babyface turn easy, Miz had essentially played a ramped up version of who he really was: a reality-TV crank that extols his own virtures with deafening bombast. It's not exactly a sympathetic character, and Miz was just fine in his role as an irritating villain that you wanted to see get hit in the mouth. He had found his niche. But yeah, he was turned face because reasons, and was still getting under the skin of others, only this time he's doing it to the heels. A forced endorsement from Ric Flair didn't take, and one of Miz's earlier attempts at co-opting the figure-four ended disastrously. It took over a year, but WWE did the right thing and made Miz a heel once more. If you're going to freshen things up by altering someone's alignment, make sure the role has some depth, at least.
