It'd be futile to complain about a match so anticipated by fans that it pulled in a record-setting 33 million viewers on prime time television. That's not the point. The fact is that the WWF rushed Hulk Hogan vs. André The Giant II so that it'd make air and create network TV history. They were right to do so, in hindsight, but they definitely hurried it.

After WrestleMania III, the Hulk and André sequel was one of the most exciting rematches ever.

Rather than waiting until the obvious slot at 'Mania IV, WWF promoted Hulk vs. The Giant on NBC as 'The Main Event', and they used it as a vehicle to sell a tournament for the WWF Title on their upcoming pay-per-view. The bout's chief purpose was to promote WrestleMania.

Hulk and André tangled again in the brackets of the tourney a few months afterwards, and yet it was their February showdown that stole all the headlines. People remember the twin referee screwjob 100x more than their short skirmish in the second round at 'Mania IV.
